Wrapping It Up
The show can be entertaining at the beginning as the girls swoon over him, but then it becomes increasingly grating. It’s based on stereotypes that have long been discredited, including the idea that a proposal is the zenith of love and that a guy has to prove himself to women by constantly trying to out-dance and out-party his competitors. It’s no wonder the franchise has only one successful couple. It’s a shame it has to be this way. But it’s not entirely the show’s fault. Creator Mike Fleiss has admitted that The Bachelor is less about reality and more about making good television.
